Certified Banker / Chartered Banker Conversion Programme
A fast-track route for a Certified Banker (CB) to become a Chartered Banker and vice versa
Mutual Recognition of Qualifications and Designations
In 2008, The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) and The Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland (CIOBS) entered into a Mutual Recognition of Qualifications and Designations Agreement. Both Certified Banker and Chartered Banker statuses are well-recognised standards for professionals working in the banking sector. Holders of the designations are regarded as being highly qualified professionals with a detailed knowledge of the modern banking sector and the ethical and professional requirements.
The mutual recognition arrangement allows a Certified Banker (CB) to also become a Chartered Banker and vice versa. The conversion routes are summarised below.
Route for a Certified Banker (CB) to Also Become a Chartered Banker
Under the agreement, “Certified Banker” designation holders from HKIB are able to become a Chartered Banker by completing a reflective assignment related to Professionalism, Regulation and Ethics successfully.
After the completion of the Chartered Banker Conversion Module, Certified Banker holders are entitled to include "Chartered Banker" on their CVs or business cards, e.g. Mr Peter Chan Certified Banker, Chartered Banker.
